Degree Of Sagging In Breasts
Sagging in breast can be classified in various types. Usually, the sagging can be stated so as the nipple is in the same line of the inframammary line in other words the inframammary fold, or further below.
If the sagging is in the same line with or near the inframammary line, it is named as 1st degree (light) sagging. In this case, only by removing a tissue from around the areola (brown part), lifting is performed.
If the nipple is below the inframammary line for 1-3 cm, there is 2nd degree (middle) sagging. In that case, by removing more tissue, by performing a full breast lifting surgery, a vertical scar going down beneath the breast, as an incision around the areola will also be (vertical scar mammoplasty). Sometimes this scar can be also planned in the shape of “small t”. If the nipple is below the inframammary line more than 3 cm, there is 3rd degree in other words advanced breast sagging.
In this case, mastopexy leaving scar in the shape of reverse-T is applied. A horizontal scar will also remain under the breast in this operation. However, the advantage of this method is that the breast can take a full conical and round shape. And in the vertical short scar method, a slight deformation may be left under the breast. This deformation or skin excess gradually decreases in 1 year.
If it does not disappear completely, the deformation is removed by taking out this piece of skin in the shape of horizontal ellipse by an operation under local anesthesia. Or by adding horizontal “small t” in the course of the first surgery, operation is completed. I usually remove a tissue also from below for non-being deformation for the vertical scar technique. Thus, it does not need for an additional correction and the scar becomes in shape of small t.
Scars After Breast Lifting Surgery
As a result of the incisions made in the breast lifting operations, depending upon the technique applied, the scars described above will occur in the suture lines. Along with being of these scars clearer, rash and reddish colored, they will lighten in months, their colors will wighten and become less apparent. They will become unclear after about 1-2 years. Again, because these scars are the marks left in bra and bikini, and does not seem from outside; they will not bother the patient.
After Breast Lifting Surgery
Breast lifting surgeries are performed under general anesthesia in the hospital, takes about 3 hours. Pain does not be very much after the surgery. Swelling occurs for about 4-5 days. This swelling starts to reduce after 1 week. Then some dressings are applied and the sutures heal in about 10-12th days, because aesthetic suturing is applied, there is no need to remove the sutures.
In the early period, the breasts will stay uprighter and above, and after 1 month the inframammary fold will become natural. The patient can return her work in 3-4 days after the surgery. It is definitely suggested to avoid heavy sports for 1 month.
